Hk Maker Lab, with the support of the NIH Science Education Partnership Award, is committed to collaboratively designing high-quality engineering curricular materials with and for high school teachers. Each year, high school STEM teachers from around NYC can join Hk Maker Lab and work with us to develop novel engineering courses for their schools. By partnering with local teachers and administrations, we can make authentic engineering experiences a critical component of high school STEM education.
Accepted teachers will join Hk Maker Lab during the summer, observing and participating in engineering design education in action. Through a series of collaborative workshops, teachers and Hk Maker Lab educators will adapt components of engineering design to our partner schools’ STEM education needs. During the following academic year, Hk Maker Lab will lend material and instructional support to partner schools as they implement the new course materials. Accepted teachers will be compensated for their participation in the curricular development program.
